Balcones Woods is a community located conveniently to most of the major shopping centers and thoroughfares of north Austin. This area dates back to the 1970s, and early 80s were the majority of the houses were built. Even though most of the residents own their houses, there are also several rental properties and apartments.
The neighborhood provides amenities that include a pool, tennis courts, a park, and a community center. This area is close-by to high-tech centers, while the employers of North Austin are close to downtown. The proximity to local highways provides easy access to the city.
This neighborhood is made up of around 550 homes, situated in the middle of the dining and shopping areas of the northwest/north Austin. This neighborhood was completed in the 1980s and features a mixture of private apartments and homes. Balcones Woods neighborhood has its own community center, tennis courts, neighborhood park, and swimming pool. Schroeter Park, Balcones District Park, Great Hills Country Club, and Balcones Country Club are all nearby.
This small neighborhood is also situated close to the Domain and Arboretum which are both upscale Austin shopping centers. These centers feature retails stores, cafes, and restaurants. The Arboretum has a bookstore and cinema, while the Domain offers artificial snow over the winter months for children.
